Hi Folks,
Nice time at the pool last night, Much thanks to Mr.
Painton for arranging the pool and the ice cream sundae buffet. Everyone
who came and took their swim test passed it. We still have several who are
planning on going to summer camp who were not there and haven't yet taken
their test. They need to make arrangements to have the test before summer
camp. Remember, swim testing needs to be done every year.
The big news this week is the work we've been doing down
at the Scout Hut. If you haven't been there in the past week or so, you're
going to be pretty surprised by the way it looks. There is still quite a
lot to be done (most of which will have to wait for the fall) but we've
really made a lot of progress this time. Huge thanks to those who came out
to help on the project: Ms. Patty, Eric Meyers, James Frediani, Curtis,
Zach, and Ben Painton, Ben Warms, and Sean Fink. I can't tell you how much
I appreciate your hard work.
As always, the Troop 1954 events calendar, this and all
back newsletters, and all sorts of other useful information is available on
our website at
www.sanmarcos1954.org I'll be
updating this in the next couple of days.

| 1) We'll be camping at Galveston
(we think) this month. Stay tuned for details. Since we're going on
the 11th, all planning will have to be done at our next meeting. If you
want to go, please be sure to bring $10 to cover the usual stuff.

| Upcoming Events |
| Camping in Galveston or Mustang
Island, June 11-13.
We'll be hanging out on the beach and working on the
Oceanography merit badge.
District Roundtable, Thursday June 10
First United Methodist, 7:00
Troop 1954 Summer Camp, July 3 - July 11
We will be doing summer camp at Camp Dale Resler in
the mountains of New Mexico. This trip will also include visits to
White Sands National Monument and Carlsbad Caverns National Park. It
will be a great chance to get away from the summer heat of San Marcos
and into the cool mountains of New Mexico.
District Roundtable, Thursday July 8
First United Methodist, 7:00
Back to School Water Event, Friday August 13th
We're headed to Schlitterbahn for one last day of
summer fun before the school year begins (kids boo parents cheer!).
We'd really like to encourage the kids to bring friends along on this
one. As always, we can use new members, especially among the older
kids. |
