The Troop 1954
Wednesday
Newsletter

|
Hi
Folks,
Thanks to all who helped with
last night's meeting. Once
again, lots of important stuff
in this newsletter.
In
the News of the Scouting World
section of this newsletter,
you'll find information on
Recharter. Please look it over
carefully.
Under announcements, you'll find
important information about this
weekend's camp out. Please read
it.
In
the next month or so, we will be
starting VENTURE CREW 1954.
Stephen Marlow has agreed to
help us organize and run this
crew. Venturing is open to boys
and girls ages 14 to 21. Boys
can be joint registered in
Venturing and Scouting.
IMPORTANT: Boys can pursue Eagle
rank as venture crew members.
We
will be having an organizing
meeting for our new Venture Crew
on Sunday, December 4 at 3:00 at
the Scout Hut. If you are
interested in either joining the
Crew or advising it, please come
to the meeting.
I
got no response at all from this
notice published last week, so
I'm publishing it again. This
will really affect our kids so
please look for stuff. It's
real easy for stuff to end up in
your house after camp outs
(plenty has ended up in mine).
IMPORTANT!!! Folks, we are
missing all sorts of camping
gear. We're missing one or two
two burner Coleman stoves, many
pots and pans, many plates, and
lots of other stuff. I imagine
most of this stuff is in
people's houses, having just not
gotten back after camp-outs.
PLEASE, PLEASE look around your
houses for any Troop equipment
and return it next week (or at
least let me know you have it).
The troop can not afford to just
keep buying replacement stoves
for our patrols. If we can not
get our equipment back, patrols
will have to purchase their own.
As
always, the Troop 1954 events
calendar, this and all back
newsletters, and all sorts of
other useful information is
available on our website at
www.sanmarcos1954.org The
Wednesday Newsletter is the
official record of Troop 1954
and serves as minutes for all
troop and committee meetings.

notes: 1) you
get half a point
for wearing a
"class B" on a
"class A" night
2) We're adding
a category for
the evening's
contest
(whatever it may
be). We'll see
how it works.
3) We'll try
another new
rule...especially
because we have
reduced summer
attendance. In
case of tie, the
patrol with the
largest number
of people
attending gets
the award.
Note: Scouts
with more than
three
consecutive
misses will not
be counted
against patrol
attendance
scores. Such
scouts
are not
removed from
their patrols.
They are simply
not counted for
attendance
points until
they return.
Also note that
when all patrols
score the same
on a category,
it doesn't
matter what they
score. |

Announcements |
|
|
|
1)
Please stay tuned for
announcements about this
weekend's camp-out. As
of this writing, there
is a good possibility
that the camp-out will
be cancelled. The final
decision on cancellation
will be made tomorrow
(Thursday) by noon.
Please be sure to check
your email before
shopping for the weekend
or showing up at the
Scout Hut. IF we are
going, we'll meet at
6:00 at the Scout Hut.
We'll have dinner on the
road. Note the later
time for meeting. We
need to be actually on
the road by 6:15. Late
is left.
2)
Please be sure to check
your house for troop
belongings
3) We
will need a Committee
Meeting soon to discuss
plans for the Scout Hut
as well as patrol
equipment.
4)
Believe it or not,
Sights and Sounds is
only a few weeks away.
We will begin planning
for that almost
immediately.

RECHARTER
Please read this
carefully:
We are coming up on our
annual recharter. Below
you'll see three
sections. First, you'll
see a listing of adult
members. Second, you'll
see a listing of youth
members, and finally,
you'll see a listing of
adults and youth that,
if we do not hear from
them, will be dropped
from our charter.
Please pay attention to
the following four
notes:
NOTE 1: This
list of members comes
from the Council. If
you are not on this
list, you're not
officially a member as
far as the Council is
concerned. That may
mean we're inefficient
or the paperwork got
lost or you never filled
out the forms or
whatever. If you're not
on the list and want to
be a member, you'll need
to fill out the forms.
If this is for a second
or third time, please
accept my apologies.
NOTE 2:
PLEASE check to see
if you appear on the
list of members to be
dropped. We do not want
to drop anyone. If you
are on this list it is
for one of two reasons.
1) (for youth) You will
be too old to be a scout
when the charter takes
affect in February. 2)
(for youth and adults)
We have not seen you at
meetings this fall. If
you have not been at
meetings, we are glad to
retain you on our
charter
but, you must tell us
that you wish to be
retained and you must
pay a membership fee of
$25. As per
our rules, this fee may
not be taken from a
scouting account.
NOTE 3:
Please remember. We're
not trying to cause
anyone to leave the
troop. We want to
retain every scout that
we are allowed to
retain. But we must
have a roster that
accurately reflects our
membership.
NOTE 4:
If you owe any money to
the troop, you will not
be allowed to recharter
with us until your
account is settled, or
an agreement for its
settlement has been
reached.
